SCDA President Ian Prout wins H Production at Lime Rock Park 9/27/14; SCDA VP Elivan Goulart earns P2 in Spec Miata.

SCDA President Ian Prout and VP Elivan Goulart both participated in the annual SCCA Narrc Runoffs held at Lime Rock Park on Sept 26 & 27. With double points on the line, the Narrc Runoffs always draws big fields and close racing. The weather could not have been better throughout the weekend with blue skies and sunny temps. The track was fast and the racing was frantic! Prout brought out his scda1.com #40 H Production Mini Cooper for it’s debut. With some testing on Thursday, and with the set up help of Travis Washay of Indian Summer Racing, Prout grabbed the Pole Position for the 20 lap feature race, with a time of 1:01.7 Prout led his class flag to flag and the SCDA Mini Cooper grabbed first place on it’s racing debut! SCDA Instructor Dave Gran was in the same race as Prout and a big congrats to Dave for a storming drive in his Kessler Engineering ITA Miata, grabbing the checker Flag!

SCDA VP Elivan Goulart did battle in his # 70 S.A.C Racing / scda1.com Spec Miata later in the day. The Spec Miata race was a dogfight all weekend long. When the checker flag flew, Elivan ended up a close P2 to fellow SCDA Instructor Jonathan Goring in his Spec Miata! A job well done by both Goulart and Goring in a fast and highly competitive field!

JULY SCDA Race Recap – SCDA President Ian Prout sets Watkins Glen Lap Record on 7/20/14 and a new Thompson Speedway Lap Record for SCDA President Ian Prout 7/13 & SCDA VP Elivan Goulart sets Watkins Glen Lap Record on 7/5!

July is not only a very busy time for our SCDA events, July is also prime racing season! In the month of July alone, SCDA President Ian Prout and SCDA VP Elivan Goulart have notched up three more track records between them! VP Elivan Goulart started off the records with an impressive drive at Watkins Glen on July 5 in his Lotus Exige S! The following week SCDA President Prout established a new Lap Record at Thompson Speedway, with a time of 1:24.5. On July 19 & 20, SCDA President Ian Prout ventured west to the historic Watkins Glen International, competing in the SCCA July Sprints races, as well as the Pro IT Series, a 45 minute feature race.

Prout was racing his #40 scda1.com / Kessler Engineering ITB Honda Civic Si. Prout entered the # 40 Civic Si in the SCCA ITB (Improved Touring B) class. Saturday started off strong, with SCDA President Ian Prout grabbing the ITB Pole Position and winning the 7 Lap Saturday race. On Sunday July 20 Prout won the both the 45 minute PRO IT Race, as well as the 12 Lap ITB sunday feature race; as well as setting a new Watkins Glen ITB Lap Record of 2:22.0! This was very special, as Prout already holds the exisiting ITR Lap Record of 2:09.6 at Watkins Glen, set in May 2013 in his BMW 325i.

Prout was duly served by Matt Kessler of Kessler Engineering and Race Engineer Duncan Burke – both provided brilliant support all weekend. July 12 / 13 saw SCDA President Ian Prout competing in the SCCA “Back To The Future” Thompson Speedway regional. With storybook weather both days, and a great turnout of competitors, this weekend was shaping up to be exciting. Prout was racing his #40 scda1.com / Kessler Engineering ITB Honda Civic Si. Prout entered the # 40 Civic Si in the SCCA H Production class as well. Saturday started off strong, with SCDA President Ian Prout winning both the ITB and H Production races. On Sunday July 13 Prout won the ITB race, and with no time to spare, was back in the thick of competition, with a second victory in the H Production race; as well as setting a new Thompson Speedway H Production Lap Record of 1:24.6. Prout was duly served by Matt Kessler of Kessler Engineering and Race Engineer Duncan Burke – both provided brilliant support all weekend.

On July 5 SCDA VP Elivan Goulart, a 4 time SCCA National Champion, competed in the SCCA Majors race at the historic Watkins Glen International track. Goulart raced his #70 Krugspeed /SAC Racing / scda1.com Lotus Exige to an impressive overall first place finish! In addition to the race win, Goulart layed down a blistering lap of 2:06.2, setting a new Watkins Glen STU Lap Record! Goulart had a great car prepared for him thanks to his Krugspeed / SAC Racing Team, headed by Crew Chief Ademir Fedumenti and Alex Krugman.

JUNE 7 & 8 – SCDA VP Elivan Goulart wins SCCA Double Major @ NJMP, SCDA President Ian Prout competes at Thompson Speedway!

 

 

SCDA President Ian Prout, along with SCDA Instructor and team Engineer Duncan Burke kicked off the 2014 racing season by participating in the first ever SCCA Thompson Speedway “Soft Test” opener on June 7 & 8. For the 2014 season, Prout will be competing in the SCCA ITB Class, piloting the #40 SCDA1.com / Kessler Engineering Honda Civic Si. The weekend was a busy one, with multiple sessions each day, which culminated in a 25 minute “test race” on Sunday, June 8. The brand new 1.7 mile Thompson Speedway facility is first rate, and the track is smooth as glass. The Thompson Management has done an amazing job getting this track built, and to a very high standard!

While Prout was competing at Thompson, SCDA VP Elivan Goulart, ventured to NJMP to compete in the SCCA Double Majors race in the ultra competitive Spec Miata class. 4 time SCCA National Champion Goulart had a storybook weekend at NJMP June 7 & 8, scoring wins both days at NJMP in the #70 S.A.C. Racing / SCDA1.com Spec Miata. Given the level of competition in SCCA Majors racing, scoring two wins in one weekend was quite impressive!

Both Prout and Goulart will venture to Lime Rock Park on JUNE 21 to compete in the SCCA Regional. Prout will race in the #40 ITB Honda Civic Si, while Goulart will go for another checker in his #70 Spec Miata. Check back for a full race report, or stop by the track and say hello JUNE 21!

SCDA President Ian Prout, along with SCDA Instructor and team Engineer Duncan Burke continued the 2013 racing season by returning to our home track of Lime Rock Park  to compete in the SCCA “John Stim Memorial” regional on July 12 & 13 with the # 40 SCDA ITR BMW 325i. The event saw race action on the historic and challenging 1.53 mile Lime Rock Park track. The weekend was a success with Prout getting scoring a pole position time of 1:00.3 on friday, and backing that up with the ITR and overall race group 6 victory on July 13! The SCDA would also like to congratulate SCDA Instructor Jonathan Goring on a dominant race win in the competitive Spec Miata race, as well as setting a new Spec Miata Lap Record at Lime Rock Park! SCDA President Ian Prout, along with SCDA Instructor and team Engineer Duncan Burke continued the 2013 racing season by heading to our home track of Lime Rock Park  to compete in the SCCA “Double the Fun” double regional on June 21 & 22 with the # 40 SCDA ITR BMW 325i. The event saw race action on the historic and challenging 1.53 mile Lime Rock Park track. The weekend was a success with Prout getting scoring a pole position time of 1:00.2 on friday, and backing that up with two ITR and overall race group 1 victories on June 22! A story book weekend at our home track!

SCDA VP Elivan Goulart scores Double Podiums at NJMP June 1 & 2

SCDA Vice President Elivan Goulart kicked off his 2013 racing season by heading down to New Jersey Motorsports Park to compete in the SCCA Double National Races on June 1 and 2. Goulart rolled out a brand new 99 Spec Miata to do battle with the fastest Spec Miata drivers in the Northeast. The debut weekend was highly successful, with Goulart earning two second place finishes. Elivan will be racing his Spec Miata at Watkins Glen double National in July – be sure to check back for updates!

SCDA President Ian Prout sets 2 new Track Records at Watkins Glen May 25 & 26

SCDA President Ian Prout, along with SCDA Instructor and team Engineer Duncan Burke kicked off the 2013 racing season by heading out to the historic Watkins Glen International raceway to compete in the SCCA “May Madness” double regional on May 25 & 26 with the # 40 SCDA ITR BMW 325i. The event saw race action on the full 3.4 mile Long Course on Saturday, May 25; while Sunday’s racing took place on the ultra fast (104 MPH avg lap speed) 2.4 mile Short Course. The weekend was a success with Prout getting wins on both saturday and sunday, with the highlight being two new ITR Track Records:

Saturday, Long Course 2:09.6
Sunday, Short Course 1:24.7

2012 SCDA Race Season Recap :

SCDA President Ian Prout raced the SCDA BMW 325i ITR to five wins in five starts and 2 Lap Records during the 2012 Racing Season.

SCDA President Ian Prout raced his SCDA BMW 325i in the SCCA ITR Class throughout that 2012 season. With five wins in five starts, the season was strong. Season highlights include winning the PRO IT Race at Watkins Glen in July, as well as setting two new lap records at Watkins Glen on September 15 & 16 on both the Long and Short Course Configurations. Prout rounded out his 2012 racing season with a class win at the SCCA 4 Hour Watkins Glen Enduro on October 7.

SCDA VP Elivan Goulart raced an Audi R8 in the Grand Am Rolex GT Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park early in the season.

SCDA VP Elivan Goulart also had a strong season. Goulart started off the 2012 season racing an Audi R8 in the Grand Am Rolex GT Series. Goulart had a strong P4 qualifying run and ran in the top five for portions of the race, competing against many well funded factory teams. Goulart also returned to his Club Racing roots, posting wins at both the Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen SCCA Nationals in the competitive Spec Miata Class, racing his SAC Racing / SCDA Spec Miata. Elivan rounded out a strong season by winning the 4 Hour Watkins Glen National on October 7, with a thrilling last lap pass for the class win!

5 wins and 5 starts and 2 Lap Records for SCDA President Ian Prout; and 3 SCCA Club Racing wins and a Pro Start for Goulart in the Rolex GT Series kept us on our toes in between SCDA Track Events. Prout will be campaigning the SCDA BMW in the 2013 Season, with a target goal of getting the Lap Record at Lime Rock Park. As a true Racer, expect to see Goulart in both SCCA Club Racing competition, as well as some TBD Pro Series starts during the 2013 season!

SCCA Watkins Glen 4 Hour Enduro October 7 results with an ITR Class win for SCDA President Ian Prout & Spec Miata Class win for VP Elivan Goulart

SCDA President Ian Prout raced his SCDA BMW 325i ITR at the Historic Watkins Glen International race track on October 7 during the SCCA “Last Chance” 4 Hour endurance race. SCDA VP Elivan Goulart also raced his SAC Racing/SCDA Spec Miata at the 4 Hour Enduro. Prout teamed up with friend and pro driver Eric Curran in the SCDA BMW; while Goulart teamed up with SCDA Customer Dan Moen in the Spec Miata. The weather was overcast and chilly with temps in the 40’s throughout the race. When the checkered flag flew, Prout and Curran ended up P1 overall in the ITR Class and P2 overall in the race! Goulart and Moen did a great job throughout the race, including a last lap pass after 4 hours of close racing to grab the Spec Miata win and an amazing P3 overall. The Last Chance 4 Hour enduro was a blast and a great way to wrap up the season.

SCDA VP Elivan Goulart Joins Team AMG and Races to Victory at 2011 25 Hours of Thunderhill California

SHELTON, CONN. (December 6, 2011) – Elivan Goulart, SCCA 2011 Spec Miata National Champion and North East Division Driver of the Year, joined Team Atlanta Motorsports Group in their successful bid to win the United States Air Force National Auto Sport Association 25 Hours of Thunderhill race last weekend, December 3-4, at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, California. Goulart, along with Team AMG teammates Jim Daniels, Mike Cooper and Jesse Combs, came from the back of the pack and overtook the lead in the 25-hour race called the longest automobile endurance race in the western hemisphere.

“What an incredible, exhausting and exhilarating experience,” Goulart said. “Coming out on top is a true testament of our driving skills as well as the entire Team AMG on car preparation. I can’t thank Jim Daniels enough for putting together this opportunity.

“I got the call to join the team on Tuesday afternoon, and from that moment on, the true race began. It was very fast paced getting travel plans and arrangements to spend time in the car, and from the beginning it was a challenge,” he said.

Although the team was scheduled to practice on the 3-mile track before the event, mechanical issues ended up leaving Goulart with no wheel time in the Mazda MX-5 race car before the grueling race began. Because of the mechanical problems the team was unable to make qualifying, and was forced to start the race from the back of the pack, adding to the driving team’s challenge.

“We started running really consistent, quick laps, and moved up steadily in the pack – until we lost what we had believed to be a transmission only one hour into the event. It ended up only being a shifter problem, but we got the car back to the pits, and this amazing crew changed the tranny and got us back onto the track in less than 25 minutes. Those guys were a huge reason we were able to keep on racing and jump to the top of the pack.

“I ended up driving more than ten hours of the race, and it was some of the most fun racing I have ever done.  There were almost 90 cars on the track at the start, so there was always someone to be looking out for, and the track was a challenge, especially at 3 a.m.!

“Of course, a race like that isn’t just about driving, it’s about the vehicle standing up to the challenge, and I have to say this Mazda is a great car. We passed the competition, mainly BMWs, built up a huge lead, and were able to out-last the battle of attrition because of car failures,” Goulart said.

Overall, competing in the E0 class, the team ran 615 laps – more than 1,800 miles – and beat the second-place team by 15 laps.

“It was a weekend I will never forget, and I’m sure I’ll really be able to enjoy it – once I get home and catch up on my sleep. I have to add, it was awesome to have my dad, Ademir, by my side the whole event, coaching me and encouraging me the whole way,” he said.  Ademir is a key component of his son’s racing, serving as crew chief and engine builder/designer on several of the cars Elivan has piloted.

According to Goulart, his next racing adventure will be announced very soon, and will include a full season in 2012 as he continues to advance in his career.

SCDA Spec Miata podium and wins continue in 2011!

SCDA VP Elivan Goulart wins 2011 SCCA National Championship in Spec Miata at Road America!

The SCDA Spec Miatas enjoyed an amazing 2010 season with a combined seven wins in seven starts for SCDA President Ian Prout and SCDA VP Elivan Goulart. Goulart capped off an amazing 2010 seson with a new Lap Record at Lime Rock Park on 10/2/10 with an amazing 1:01.6 lap. In 2011, the SCDA Spec Miatas have again made their way to the top step of the Podium multiple times in the 2011 season! SCDA VP Elivan Goulart rounded out an amazing 2011 SCCA Club Racing season by winning the Spec Miata National Championship race at Road American in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin! Here are a few highlights :

SCDA VP Elivan Goulart drove the # 70 SCDA / S.A.C. Spec Miata to wins both days at the recent Pocono Double National! Goulart would go on to win the 2011 SCCA National Championship Spec Miata race.

Elivan Goulart returned to Pocono on the weekend of August 13 and 14 for the SCCA Pocono Double National. Goulart, piloting the # 70 SCDA / S.A.C. Racing Spec Miata battled with some of the top Spec Miata racers in the Northeast. Former National Champions and many top Spec Miata drivers in the field kept Goulart on his toes. Elivan put on a hard drive Saturday in the dry at Pocono and when the checker flag waved, Goulart emerged with a win! On Sunday Aug 14, mother nature greeted racers with rainy track conditions. Despite the nasty weather, Goulart picked up where he left off Saturday, securing another National Spec Miata win in some very tough track conditions! A great weekend of close Spec Miata Racing!

SCDA President Ian Prout emerged with a Win and a Third at the recent SCCA Watkins Glen July Sprints!

A few weeks earlier in the summer, SCDA President Ian Prout headed to Watkins Glen International to compete in the SCCA July Sprints and Pro IT races. Prout had some unfinished business, after a rare mechanical failure sidelined him from competition at the Watkins Glen Double National the week before. The format for the July sprints included a 9 Lap SCCA Regional on Sunday, as well as a 45 minute Pro IT Race. The Pro IT race includes a variety of classes, including race prepped BMW’s, Porsches, many Spec and Showroom Spec Miatas as well as other Improved Touring Sedans. The Pro IT race was slightly wet to start, with a track that quickly dried out. With close to 60 cars on the track, there was always action to deal with. When the checker waved, Prout emerged with the SSM class win, and the need to drink a gatorade after the 19 lap event on the 3.4 mile Watkins Glen Long Course. With not much time to spare, next up was the 9 lap SSM Regional Race. Prout qualified P2 behind SCDA Instructor TJ Hanifan, with SCDA Instructor Mustafa Ugurlu a very close P3. The race was a blast, and when the checker flew, all 3 SCDA Instructors were on the Podium! A great weekend of Spec Miata Racing! A reminder that if driving a dedicated track prepared Spec Miata sounds like fun, that arrive and drive Spec Miata rental cars are available for remaining 2011 events! Fresh off a storybook weekend at Watkins Glen the week before, the SCDA Spec Miatas had a strong showing at Lime Rock Park on October 2 for the hotly contested Narrc Runoffs SCCA event. SCDA VP Elivan Goulart capped off an undefeated season in the highly competitive Spec Miata class, with a flag to flag race win! Goulart had an amazing 32 lap race, and along the way, set a new lap record at Lime Rock Park for Spec Miatas at a blistering 1:01.6! Crew Chief Ademir Fedumenti and his guys set up the SCDA Spec Miata # 70 perfectly for the track conditions. The hard work paid off and a race win and new Lime Rock Park track record were the reward. SCDA Instructor Matt Ferris made a guest appearance, piloting the # 32 SCDA SSM Class Spec Miata. Ferris ran at the front of the competitive SSM Class all weekend. Despite never having driven Spec Miata, Ferris was battling for the race win, until a lapped car cut his race short. In other Narrc Runoffs news SCDA Instructor Garry Delea put in a strong showing, winning the Showroom Stock C race in his new Mazda3; while SCDA customer and friend Dan Moen notched up an impressive 9th Place finish in the over 30 car Spec Miata field! SCDA Instructor Mark Gregory also had a great drive, starting 19th and finishing in the top 5 in the Rosmar ITS Mazda RX7. With the Narrc Runoffs now in the record books, SCDA President Ian Prout and VP Elivan Goulart have notched up an impressive 7 wins in 7 starts in 2010 SCCA SM and SSM Competition. SCDA Spec Miatas enjoyed a story book weekend with 4 wins in 4 starts in both SSM and SM Classes at the SCCA Watkins Glen “Fun One” Double Regional on September 18 and 19. SCDA President Ian Prout defended his 2009 double Fun One SSM class wins in the # 73 SCDA SSM class Spec Miata. Prout started from pole position both days, had two fast race laps and grabbed the checkered flag on both Saturday and Sunday.  SCDA VP Elivan Goulart drove brilliantly and brought home two more race wins on both saturday and sunday in the hugely competitive Spec Miata races. Piloting # 70 SCDA Spec Miata; Goulart held off some of the fastest drivers in the Northeast at this event, but he kept his cool under pressure and Goulart added two more wins to his undefeated season in Spec Miata Racing.  Crew chief Ademir Fedumenti had the cars meticulously prepared and had the set up perfect on both SCDA Spec Miatas! With the Watkins Glen event in the books, the SCDA SM and SSM Spec Miatas are now undefeated in 2010 SCCA Club Racing with 6 wins in 6 starts! Prout emerged with the SSM Victory on Saturday, after a hard fought battle with SSM hotshoe Chris Windsor.

Goulart and Prout continue their winning ways in the SCDA Spec Miatas, with SM and SSM Wins at Lime Rock Park on June 19!

SCDA President Ian Prout and SCDA VP Elivan Goulart kicked off their 2010 SCCA Club Racing season with two wins at Lime Rock Park on 2010. Goulart piloted the # 70 SCDA Spec Miata; while Prout drove the # 73 SSM Class Spec Miata. Of note is the fact that due to a scheduling conflict, Goulart was not able to post a qualifying time. Despite starting dead last in the highly competitive 35 car Spec Miata field; Goulart emerged with the race win; passing multiple cars every lap on his charge to the front of the pack! During the Spec Miata race, Goulart posted a very impressive 1:02.4 lap! The SCDA would also like to extend a congratulations to customer Dan Moen, who piloted the # 25 SCDA SM. Dan ran some fast times in qualifying and ended up with a solid finish, mixing it up with fellow competitors throughout his race. SCDA President Ian Prout ran the # 73 Showroom Spec Miata later in the day. Showroom Spec Miata is similar to Spec Miata, but SSM class cars are required to run a stock intake and exhaust. Prout posted a 1:03.5 in qualifying, and ended up with Pole. The SSM event was hard fought and filled with close competition, and Prout emerged with a victory once the Checkered Flag waived. All in all a great day at Lime Rock for the SCDA Spec Miatas, with two wins in two starts!  The SCDA would like to thank our Crew Chief Ademir Fedumenti and his crew for the great job prepping and supporting the SCDA Spec Miatas at Lime Rock Park. SCDA Spec Miatas wrap up 2009 SCCA Club Racing Season with 9 Podiums in 10 Starts. Below is our 2009 Season Recap.

During the 2009 SCCA Club Racing season, SCDA President Ian Prout and VP Elivan Goulart combined to finish on the podium 9 times in 10 starts, including six wins between them in SCCA Club Racing events! Of note is that these are the same Spec Miatas that SCDA customers have enjoyed throughout the SCDA track day season. We would like to thank our crew chief Ademir Fedumenti for his efforts in preparing such fast Spec Miatas! Although the season is winding down, the Spec Miata fleet will still see track action at the remaining SCDA events of 2009. We would also like to thank all SCDA Spec Miata rental customers for their support during this past year! SCDA President Ian Prout, VP Elivan Goulart and customer Chris Maybury raced 3 of the SCDA Spec Miatas at Lime Rock Park for the SCCA Narrc Runoffs on October 2 and 3. Friday was qualifying, with sunny skies and fast track conditions. At the end of qualifying, both Prout and Goulart ended up in P2 for their respective races. Goulart turned an impressive 1:01.7, starting on the front row for the competitive SM race. For the SSM Race, Prout earned an outside pole in the 17 car SSM field, turning in a 1:02.8 in the # 26 SCDA Spec Miata. Customer Chris Maybury made an impressive SCCA SM and SSM debut weekend in the # 29 SCDA Spec Miata, posting times in the 1:03’s, setting himself up solidly for Saturday’s feature races. In addition to the SM race, SCDA VP Goulart notched up an impressive 53 second Pole Position in the F500 class, and backed this solid performance up with a F500 Victory on Saturday in the scda1.com / www.savingsautocenter.com QRE F500! On Saturday, The SM group started the day, faced with wet track conditions. Both Goulart and Maybury drove smart and competitive races and neither put a wheel wrong. When the checker flag flew, Goulart completed this hotly contested battle in P3 — On the Podium in the #25 SCDA SM! It should be noted that in four Spec Miata starts this year, Goulart earned 3 wins and a 3rd place finish! In the SSM race (Showroom Spec Miata) Prout got a solid start, but the tricky and slick conditions caught him out with a quick spin, resulting in playing catch up most of the race, having to settle for an 11th place finish once the checkers flew. SCDA Customer Maybury rounded out his “double race weekend” (competing in both the SM and SSM Races) with a brilliant drive in slick conditions, charging from 13th on the grid to a very respectable 6th place finish! We would like to thank Crew Chief Ademir Fedumenti and assistant Keith, and SCDA Customer Bo Tang for their help during this busy weekend. The season has been a good one for Prout and Goulart in the SCDA Spec Miatas. Between the two of them, they have notched up 6 Wins, 3 thirds in 10 starts~!  The season is winding down, but not over yet! SCDA President Ian Prout adds two more Wins to the SCDA Spec Miata season tally at the 45th annual Watkins Glen “Fun One” SCCA Double Regional Races on 9/19 & 9/20.

SCDA President Ian Prout and crew chief Ademir Fedumenti headed to Watkins Glen International to compete in the 45th annual Watkins Glen “Fun One” SCCA Double Regional Races on 9/19 & 20. The format for this event was two separate races : On Saturday, competitors ran the full Long Course and Sunday saw wheel to wheel competition on the ultra fast Short Course. Race group 2 was a huge field of over 55 competitors each day, as Spec Miata and Showroom Spec Miata drivers did battle at this historic facility. Once the dust settled, Prout was able to continue the momentum of a very successful season for the SCDA Spec Miata fleet, notching two more SSM victories; winning the Long Course on saturday and the Short Course on sunday! SCDA customer Dan Moen put in two great drives as well. Dan campaigned the # 29 SCDA Spec Miata, and with the help of SCDA friend and Professional Coach Peter Argetsinger, Dan left the event with two solid Spec Miata finishes under his belt. Dan did not put a wheel wrong throughout the weekend and improved his lap times each day. In eight SCCA regional race Starts in the highly competitive SM and SSM classes, Prout and SCDA VP Elivan Goulart have now notched up an amazing Six Wins and Two 3rds! Prout and Goulart will be competing at the SCCA NARRC Runoffs at Lime Rock Park on October 3rd, with the goal being to “continue the streak!” Saturday, October 3rd at Lime Rock Park will be a full day of action packed SCCA Racing, Please stop by and say hello! Fresh off 2 podium finishes during the May 30 SCCA races at Lime Rock Park, SCDA President Ian Prout and VP Elivan Goulart returned to LRP to compete in the June 20 SCCA Races. At this event, Elivan Goulart drove the #23 SCDA Spec Miata in the hugely popular SM class; while Prout campaigned the #28 SCDA Spec Miata in the SSM class. Goulart started the day by putting the #23 SCDA SM on Pole Position in the huge 40 car SM Field – at a time under the Lime Rock Park SM Track Record! Qualifying went well for Prout, as he was able to place the # 28 SCDA SSM third on the grid in the 27 car SSM field. In the SM race, Elivan had a great battle with Ken Payson, and ultimately was able to make a thrilling outside pass on Payson in Big Bend with 2 laps to go. Elivan never looked back and kept his cool under pressure, scoring his second win of the season! The SSM race was held later in the day, just as the heavens opened up. Prout opted for a full wet setup, with full tread rain tires and disconnected sway bars. Unfortunately, the track dried out much sooner than anticipated, but Prout was able to post a solid top 5 finish in the SSM race. In addition to Goulart and Prout, SCDA customers Jim Craige, Emmett Horgan, and Dan Moen all posted very respectable finishes behind the wheel of our race winning Spec Miatas! In addition to the races on Saturday, the SCDA supported “young gun” Ross Berger on Friday June 19 while he successfully completed his SCCA drivers school piloting the #25 SCDA Spec Miata. We would like to thank the SCDA Customers that stopped by to say hello at this event, and a special thanks to Crew Chief Ademir Fedumenti for preparing and supporting the Spec Miatas for the SCCA races.
